Why is my candle throwing black smoke/soot?
Our candles are made with wood wicks, wood wicks require proper trimming before each time you light your candle. The proper trim height should be 3/16 to 1/8 of an inch. If your candle isn't properly trimmed it can lead to black smoke. Keep in mind that black smoke will not affect the performance of your candle, just the appearance.

Why is my candle container is too hot?
By not properly trimming your candle to 3/16 to 1/8 of inch before each light, you can end up with a larger flame. A larger flame can lead to excess heat that can cause your candle container to be excessively hot.
